For us life is tough. Not just your normal life, but my life. Constantly trying hard to fit in with the normal people, regular people like yourself. Most don't even know of us, but to the others that have heard the stories, we don't exist. Only in myths and legends. But we are real and we are here. Protecting the earth and watching over the ones who live on it, from the great evil that lurks among us. We are called the Nobodies. Specially chosen by fate, we are granted with special powers and abilities at any given time, never knowing when our power will emerge.
A long time ago there were several Nobodies on earth, until that day, they called it "The day of Triumph", we called it the worst day in our history. On that day, all Nobodies were killed. But hoped lied in the Seven Nobody secrets. Seven Nobodies with great power. the sixth was killed on "The day of Triumph." Then one hundred years later a Nobody appeared, now we wait for the last and final Nobody secret number seven, who holds the key to life's very existence. In the wrong hands, the last of the seven could threaten the world, in the right hands however, peace may finally lie between man and Nobody.
I looked out the window at the big willow trees, swaying in the cool November wind. Birds were parched high at the tip top of the branches. The middle school yard was neatly landscaped with flowers of all colors, and trees of all kinds. I didn't like school, the only good thing about it was our cute uniforms and Sakahe Mamoru.
I turned my attention from the word outside the window, to the boring colorless front of the classroom. I sighed as the morning bell rang. It was time for another day in the life of me, fourteen year-old, Kumikai Amaya. I sat down in my normal seat in the center of the room, and set down my heavy blue book-bag. As I sat, the boy behind me kicked my seat and laughed, just as he does every morning. And just as I do all the time, I turned around and said, "Would you stop that!" And then once again, he kicked my seat, figures. He later stopped when our teacher Koa Sensei finally turned around from writing on the board. That stupid old guy needs to retire. As Koa Sensei began to speak I looked up at the third seat on the right, and gazed upon the face of my crush Sakahe Mamoru.
Mamoru had luscious, long black hair, gorgeous emerald green eyes, and a mysteriousness to him that made me wonder. Mamoru was my perfect dream guy. He stood with the posture of a brave man, and walked with the radiance of a prince. He seemed as if he had not a care in the world, nothing could ever put him down. Mamoru has this look, like an angel from heaven. The only problem is, every girl in school has a big crush on him. So that makes me.....number three hundred fifty three on the list to stair at him during lunch.
"You are so wonderful." I sighed quietly under my breath. As I stared at Mamoru, he turned around, looked straight into my eyes, and gave me that mysterious look. My cheeks turned bright red. I turned away to avoid him seeing. As soon as I turned my glance back to the board, Koa Sensei aggressively slammed a book on my desk, startling me and making me gasp.
He went around to every desk, and dropped a different book on it. As he did this he said, "These books are your new class assignment, after you finish your book you are to write a four hundred word paper summing up the book. You have a few weeks to complete the assignment so feel free not to procrastinate." I looked down at the book that was on my desk. It was old and torn. The book had an old smell to it as I quickly flipped through the novel. I saw old food stains and ripped pages. The black leather cover had been torn to the paper behind it. The only significant part about the book was the flawless gold writing on the front and spine. It read "The Nobodies."
"I wonder what it could be about?" As I began to read the first page, I got a weird feeling in my stomach, and then to my surprise I felt a sudden and strange shock, go through my entire body."OW!" I yelped as I dropped the book to the cold tile floor. "Books aren't supposed to hurt." I bent down to poke the demon book, only this time nothing happened. "That was awkward." I questioned.
For the remainder of the class I read the book called "The Nobodies". To my surprise the book was quite intriguing. It told of a legend, where people are gifted with special powers and help other people from an evil that lives among us on earth. "Sounds like a good book." I said silently to myself.
"Rrrrrrring" the bell rang. As I got up out of my chair, I closed the book and slipped it into the front pocket of my book-bag. I walked over to the door, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mamoru's book slide off the edge of his desk. "This is my chance for him to notice me." I said quietly making a victory fist in my hand. I pranced on over to his desk and picked the book up off the floor. I handed in to him and said, "Here, this fell off of your desk." Mamoru turned and looked at me. As our eyes met I felt love take over and my heart started to beat fast. And then he said, "Thanks." in his cute, awww, voice. "Hehehe" I replied, feeling really stupid. He gave me a strange look then walked away.
My happiness dropped to the floor. "Wow Amaya, that was smart, why didn't you just speak alien to him or something. Good going, now he thinks you are weird." I let out a breath of air that was my self esteem. There it goes, weeeeee. Bye!
I followed behind him out of class. As he walked in front of me I stared at his long black hair. I thought to myself, "If only you knew how much I love you." Just then one of the popular girls bumped into him! "Oh sorry Mamoru-kun, I didn't see you there." she said flipping her blonde hair back behind her shoulders. My fist gripped tight, I know your just asking for a big Amaya fist print on your face! "Whatever." replied Mamoru as he walked away from her. She had such a priceless look on her face. It was like a "Oh my gosh I can't believe he's walking away from ME!" kind of face. I laughed sticking my tongue out.
My eyes then turned back to the lovely Mamoru, watching him until he was out of my sight. "Hey Amaya!" yelled Hikari my best friend. "Oh....hey Hikari." I said in a dazed tone. "You checkin out Mamoru-Kun again?" she asked me bumping my shoulder. "No!...Well, kinda yeah." "You should so tell him how you feel." "No way, I can't do that." "You're gonna have to tell him some time..........or you could just wait." "I'll go with waiting." I replied as I walked to my locker, Hikari followed. "You know your right in a way. I waited, and look! I have a boyfriend." "Your lucky, Kai-kun is a nice guy." "Yea he is." she said giggling, as Kai walked up to her. "See ya later buddy." she said as she walked away with her boyfriend. "See ya." I replied a bit down.
I looked around me. In the halls, everyone was either boyfriend girlfriend, or magnetically attached at the hand. Does everyone have someone except for me. Mamoru, why won't you show any interest in me!
The rest of the day I was daydreaming a lot. Mainly Mamoru and that weird shocking book. Other than that today was pretty boring. Me Amaya thinking about the life I wish I had. Everyday I can't stop daydreaming about Mamoru's sweet face and his beautiful eyes. I only wish he could be mine. I always get jealous of Hikari and Kai. But I know one day I'll have a boyfriend, and how I hope it's Mamoru. Please let it be Mamoru!
"Bye Amaya!" yelled Hikari wakening me from my daydream again. "I'll see you tomorrow." she said as she walked away from school. "Bye Hikari." I said as I waved to my friend below me. Kai waved a hand as well as he turned back to me up on the balcony.
On each far side in the front of the school, there are two staircases that lead up to the second floor from ground level. From the stairs there are balcony walkways that meet up in the center of the second floor. Along the railings are bright blue and violet flowers. Creatively carved designs are on every garnet railing post and flower pot. This is where you'll find me everyday after school.
I love to lean forward on the ledge and look up at the sky. Some may find it strange but, I have a love for the clouds........well, and Mamoru. Anyway, the higher elevation gives me a better look at the sky. Plus it's a great place to think and have a nice quiet me moment.
"Well I guess I've been up here long enough." I shrugged my shoulders after a held hour of sky gazing. Reaching down, I lifted my book bag off the wooden bench. I walked a few paces down the steps, when I lost my balance and began to fall towards the curved part of the stairs. I was conscious of every moment about to lead up to my face getting smashed. Just when I thought I would be broken in pieces, I felt hands grab around my lower waist. My eyes widened, I dropped my bag. Someone is holding me, someone just saved me. I'm being held for the first time.
I turned around, "Are you alright?" asked the guy holding me. Oh my gosh I thought to myself, It's Mamoru "Uh huh, thanks." I managed to say. "Yeah." he said as he scratched his head and squinted one eye. Que angels song and heavenly lights. I looked up at him. Traced in by his features. Don't stare at him you idiot, get your bag! I shook my head and picked up my bag. "Arigatou." I bowed quickly.
"See ya." Mamoru stated walking away as he waved one hand up in the air, the other tucked into the pocket of his black pants. "Bye." I said sighing in love. "He caught me.....but wait........oh crap I fell in front of him....oh man!" I muttered hanging my head and proceeding down the steps.
When I reached the end of school grounds, it started to rain. My long blonde hair was soaked in the pouring down rain. I looked up at the sky. "Why does my life have to be this way!" I yelled to the heavens. "I mean come on, I am such a nobody in a somebody world." I said as I pouted. I took my jacket out of my bag and put it around my body. I felt it's warmth calm my nerves a bit, as I walked down the street towards my house. Looking back once more at the balcony before it went out of sight, I saw Mamoru standing there. I don't think he saw me through the pouring rain. I proceeded along the sidewalk.
It rained the whole way as I briskly walked to my house. I glanced over at my mother standing on the porch. She had lit the front candles, most likely so I could see in the purring rain. "Amaya!" she called out for me. I walked slowly up to my tan colored two story house. When I reached the front door my mom held a towel out for me. "Come in here, before you catch a cold for goodness sake." I sniffled.
I walked through the dark wooden door, through the hallway, and up the spiral stairs to my room. I hung up my wet school uniform on the towel rack in the bathroom, and got in hot the shower. I let the warm water stream down my back to warm me up. Afterwards, I ate dinner with my mom and dad, then went into bed. I snuggled myself into my feather stuffed blankets and fluffed up my pillow.
As I laid there in bed, my kitten Kora snuggled up close to me and licked my nose. "I love you too." I said as I kissed her head goodnight. I stared out my window at the bright full moon slightly covered with overcastting clouds. I dreamed at the stars in the brightly lit sky. Mamoru's eyes shown with a similar brightness. I wish knew what he was doing right now. Is he thinking of me? Mamoru, what is his home like? Where does he live? I laid thinking about him until my eyes got heavy enough to fall asleep.
"Beep beep beep." my alarm clock blazing loud in my sensitive ear. "I'm up I'm up." I groaned as I slammed my hand down on the clock to shut it up. It read six fifty five. I lifted my half asleep body out of my blue blankets and stepped out onto my floor. As I rubbed my eyes they started to adjust to the brightness of day.
I reached down and touched my toes, a normal morning stretch, along with a back bend. I smacked my face a few times and shook my head really fast, "Ok I'm up." I told myself.
I got ready like I always do. Get dressed in my blue uniform, brush my golden blonde hair, put on mascara, eat, brush my teeth, and finally walk to school. On the way there I met up with Hikari. "What a storm yesterday." She announced. "Yea it was pretty bad." I agreed looking up at the morning sky. Clouds started to form above my head. "So...how as your balcony time?" I took my attention away from the sky and towards my friend. "I tripped and almost fell down the cement stairs." "Whoa, what happened after that?" "Mamoru-kun caught me." "No way!" She streaked. "Yea how embarrassing is that?" I said with a slight laugh. "He caught you! That's so cool, go get tem tiger!" I turned to her. "Hikari!"
I walked into Koa Sensei's room and nearly tripped again, this time over a misplaced back-pack. "I hope you started to read your books." he stared us down as I sat down in my seat. The boy behind me kicked my chair. "Ok you really need to stop that it's getting old." I suggested, he kicked it again. I sighed and slammed my head on the desk. As I lifted my head up I saw Mamoru walk into the classroom. "Sorry I'm late I lost my book-bag." He said as he flipped his hair back. "Go get a late pass Mr.Sakahe." said Sensei in his sinister voice. He didn't like Mamoru, he was always a show off.
"Get out your books and start reading." Koa Sensei said glancing around the room. I reached into my bag. As soon as my hand touched the book it shocked me again, this time it hurt more "ahhhh." My body felt weird, it was a mix between a tingly feeling and a headache. "Stupid book!" I yelled crossing my arms. "Miss Kumikai! Will you keep it down!" Sensei snarled. "Hai." I sighed.
Class seemed like forever. The whole time I just sat there because I didn't want to read the "shocking" book. Finally the bell rang. I got up out of my chair and walked towards the door. Mamoru walked three people ahead of me. I stared at the back of his head with love. I followed the rest of the class out of the room, and just my luck, I crashed into the school bully, Tazo Miray.
She dropped all her books to the floor and then looked up at me. I could have sworn that her eyes turned red and horns popped out of her skull. She stared me down and growled, "You are going to be so sorry you did that you little twerp!" As I prepared myself to be hit as hard as humanly possible, I felt the whole atmosphere around me change, and then the ground started to shake.
